It feels like all eyes are on the constantly fluctuating statistics and the maps of the U.S. dotted with red and blue. We won’t know until it’s all over, of course, but if we’re keeping an eye on anything leading up to the election, it should be the voters with the power to have a huge impact on the outcome: Gen Z. In the 2024 election, 41 million members of Gen Z will be eligible to vote, more than 8 million of those for the first time. What factors have shaped their views? What issues are weighing on them as they help choose the next President?

Over the last decade, SheKnows has had an ongoing series of discussions with members of Gen Z to gauge how they feel about serious and substantial topics such as politics, gender and racial equality, and women’s rights. We’ve checked in with them as they’ve grown from energetic kids to insightful teens to young adults poised to make their mark on the world. These evolving conversations have provided a fascinating glimpse into their opinions over the years, but more importantly, how they’re feeling now that they’re old enough to vote — and playing a pivotal part in choosing our next President.

Gen Z Voters: By the Numbers — & Beyond

Nearly half of Gen Z voters (45 percent in the general electorate and 47 percent of newly eligible voters) are people of color, making Gen Z more racially and ethnically diverse than previous generations. But their diversity isn’t all that sets them apart — not by a long shot. Gen Z has spent their teen and young adult years trying to navigate a complex web of interconnected crises, including systemic racism, gender-based violence, crippling student debt, and erosion of reproductive and gender rights, set against the ominous backdrop of climate change. They’ve seen only elections that feel polarizing and divisive, if not downright hostile. Older members of Gen Z report feeling disillusioned by the surge of negativity, misinformation, and harmful rhetoric that has dominated the past three election cycles; they’re tired and cynical, skeptical of each party’s true intentions.

Because of this, the resulting fear and uncertainty that many Gen Z-ers feel for their future has made them especially engaged in social activism, and deeply connected to the causes they’re passionate about. “They lean less into party divisions and are particularly motivated by the issues,” Emily Slatkow, communications director for the progressive youth voting organization NextGen America, said in an article for NBC News.

A recent survey revealed that almost one-third of Gen Z (32 percent) report being regularly active in social justice work, as opposed to just 24 percent of millennials — a number that goes up to roughly 40 percent among college-aged Gen Zers. For 62 percent of Gen Z activists, moral conviction is the top driver; they’re compelled by a deep sense of what is right. Another key motivator, cited by over half, is a personal connection — either their own experiences or those of close friends and family — which sparks their passion for specific social causes.

Back in 2020, a Pew Survey found that 22 percent of registered voters aged 18 to 23 — the oldest members of Gen Z — approved of how Donald Trump was handling his job as President, while about three-quarters disapproved (77 percent). In a September 2024 survey by NBC News, half of Gen Z voters say they’re planning to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in November, while one-third say they’ll vote for former President Donald Trump; still a bigger gap for Harris, but not quite the majority seen in the 2020 election. The Fall 2024 Harvard Youth Poll, conducted by the Institute of Politics (IOP) at the Harvard Kennedy School, saw Harris leading Trump by a large margin — 64 percent versus 32 percent among likely voters.

Interestingly, while both genders are leaning heavily toward Harris, the rate of female support has far surpassed males; the gender gap, which stood at 17 points in the Spring poll, has nearly doubled and is now at 30 points. “There is this unprecedented gap in Gen Z, in the under 30s, in terms of political affiliation and voting intention. But it’s also worth emphasizing that more of that gap may be driven by the move of young women to the left than it is of young men to the right, Richard V. Reeves, author of the book Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do About It, told SheKnows. “I think that for most young men it’s actually more a question of feeling quite politically homeless. They don’t see much on the left for them, for sure. And I don’t necessarily think they’re wrong about that.”

But if talk doesn’t turn into action, none of these statistics will matter one iota, which brings us to the biggest question: Will Gen Z show up at the polls? According to the Harvard Youth Poll, absolutely. “Fifty-six percent of young Americans tell us they plan to ‘definitely’ vote in the upcoming election,” the findings state. “Among registered voters, the number rises to 72 percent.” This number has been bolstered by the surprising mid-race candidate swap. Before Harris took over as the Democratic nominee, Gen Z’s motivation to vote was much more lukewarm. “What I’m hearing from my generation, or my peers, is that people aren’t going to vote at all because they’re not feeling satisfied or represented by either of the big options,” Amelia, 21, told SheKnows prior to Biden’s departure from the race. Now, it’s a totally different story.

“Much of this increased enthusiasm among [Gen Z] Democrats is tied to Kamala Harris as their party’s nominee,” says the Harvard Poll. “More than four-in-five (81 percent) of Harris supporters in a direct match-up with Trump are enthusiastic about voting for her, nearly doubling the 43 percent of Biden supporters who said the same in March.” It can’t hurt that Harris’s campaign has intentionally set out to appeal largely to Gen Z voters; after all, teens do spend an average of 8.5 hours a day on screens, swiping through their social media.

The enthusiasm for Harris may be renewed, but it certainly isn’t new. “I hope that a woman could one day be President. I hope that a person of color could be President again,” Gen Z panelist Reed told us in 2020. “And I think that one thing we need to address is this country’s issue with women in office.” And in the same year, fellow panelist Jack mused, almost prophetically, “I don’t know what’s going to happen in four years. I think [Kamala Harris] would be a good President. I’d support her. I’d be able to vote then.”

Well, folks, “then” is now — and it’s Gen Z’s time to be heard. Will they realize the full potential of their impact and turn out in record numbers to vote? It’s a question we’ve waited for the past 10 years to answer … and in two weeks, we’ll all know. In the meantime, watch the full video to see the evolution of these first-time voters.

Ella Emhoff Got Surprisingly Candid About Fame as She Re-Launched This Latest Passion Project https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1234726343/ella-emhoff-candid-about-fame-project-knitting-club/ https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1234726343/ella-emhoff-candid-about-fame-project-knitting-club/#respond Thu, 24 Oct 2024 20:03:05 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234726343 When presidential candidate Kamala Harris married her husband Doug Emhoff back in 2014, we’re sure Doug’s daughter Ella Emhoff had no idea what she was getting into. After all, Emhoff went from growing up like everyone else to making headlines for her fashionable red carpet looks. But, despite it all, Emhoff has taken the new attention in stride, even recently pressing pause on her passion project (the Soft Hands Knit Club) for her own protection.

“I just wanted to quickly come talk about Knit Club and address how it’s moving forward,” Emhoff told her followers in an August 29 announcement on Instagram. “Unfortunately, with everything going on right now, I am unable to conduct them, just to protect myself and other club members.”

Luckily, however, Emhoff announced on Oct. 24 that the Club has officially reopened, but this time it’s virtual! That’s right, the 25-year-old has officially launched a Substack titled “Soft Crafts by Ella Emhoff.”

“I really wanted to join Substack because I wanted an authentic community, something that I feel is being lost on other platforms,” Emhoff, who graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2021, said in the press release. “I started a knitting club in NYC last year and have been posting about it online. I found that the whole point of the club was sort of being lost because it was so limited to my small world here and a lot of people from around America wanted to engage and be a part of it.”

“I’m really excited to continue what I’ve been building through my knitting club and expand to more mediums, more people, and more of a relationship with my community that loves arts and crafts as much as I do,” she continued.

Already, Emhoff’s substack, which has both paid and unpaid subscriptions, has an introduction of herself and how she got into all kinds of arts and crafts growing up.

“I’m a maker,” she began. “Give me a material, and I’m going to make something fun out of it. I’ve been making arts and crafts since I was a kid, mainly using it as an outlet for the immense anxiety that was beginning to take over me. I spent all my time making and kept finding new ways to make it the center of my life.”

“I started as a children’s ceramics teacher at a summer camp, moved on to working as an artist’s fabricator (best job ever), and worked in the fashion world for a sec (desk job),” she remembered. “Then I took a quick detour modeling while I figured out how I wanted to blend my love of art and this newfound platform I fell into. Many different steps led me to creating my beloved knitting community, ‘Soft Hands Knit Club’ (I’ll go into it, don’t worry), and then other steps led me to having to stop it (that I may not go into).”

“But here we are! Here you are!” she continued. “The best things come from having to adapt. So welcome to our Soft Crafts Craft Club.”

In the last paragraph, Emhoff then got candid about the nerves she has going into the new project, sharing a rare glimpse of her relationship with fame.

“This is my first time using a platform that I’ve felt comfortable making content like this, so it’s very exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time,” she admitted. “I feel like most people didn’t even know what my voice sounded like until the DNC (yes, I’m a deep-voiced girlie), which feels odd because I’ve had a following for a handful of years now, and I’m only now kind of breaking the barrier between my followers and myself.”

“I don’t like when people have that online, so I don’t know why I was doing that,” she reflected. “So if you’ve been following me and thinking, ‘Why is she distant?’ I’m sorry. But also, I’m not, because I don’t owe anyone anything.”

In other words, while she understands that her followers might not feel as close to her as they’d like, Emhoff knows it’s okay to set her own boundaries and limitations. She’s allowed to keep some things private, after all!

“However, I love my community, I love making art, and I love sharing it with people,” she added. “I’m going to do my best to stay consistent and create the best and most fun content I can. I’m going to be doing things as I come up with them, changing things when I don’t feel like they’re working right. I’ve got a lot of ideas for video content because I’ve never really allowed myself to do them, so there will be a lot of tutorials, but there will be other crafting and more personal videos as well, so just stay tuned for the fun.”

Long live the Soft Crafts Craft Club!

Katy Perry's Latest Move with Kamala Harris Sparks Fan Doubts About Her True Intentions https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1234723634/katy-perry-kamala-harris-pr-controversy/ https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1234723634/katy-perry-kamala-harris-pr-controversy/#respond Sat, 19 Oct 2024 16:15:00 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234723634 It’s no secret that Katy Perry has been having a tough time PR-wise. The “Woman’s World” singer has been under scrutiny since collaborating with Dr. Luke — who was sued by Kesha in 2014 for sexual assault and battery — on her album 143. The video for “Woman’s World” also left even her most devoted fans questioning how she completely missed the mark with the whole “women’s empowerment” angle of it all.

Since then, Perry has been doing everything in her power to course-correct. She followed the footsteps of Taylor Swift in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid. And yesterday, Perry hopped on a zoom call with Harris HQ to pump up staffers and show her support, per TMZ

While Perry’s newfound political involvement might seem like a step in the right direction, some fans aren’t convinced. “Katy Perry may have come out for Kamala Harris but she talks about how much she loves Elon Musk and she voted for Rick Caruso in Los Angeles for Mayor. She’s definitely both-siding this as well,” noted one fan on social media.

For those unfamiliar, billionaire Rick Caruso ran for Los Angeles mayor in 2022. The real estate developer, who switched from the Republican to the Democratic party right before the election, donated millions to ultra-conservative organizations, including $6 million to the USC Caruso Catholic Center, which has strong anti-abortion (a.k.a anti-women) values.

While Caruso did not win, Perry was called out at the time for posting photos of herself voting for the billionaire developer, captioning a photo of herself with a thumbs up in front of a voting tablet, “I am voting for a myriad of reasons (see the news) but in particular because Los Angeles is a hot mess atm.”

Sure, people can have a change of heart when it comes to politics. But given the timing of Perry’s political pivot, fans are understandably wary that her involvement in the Harris campaign might be more about rehabilitating Perry’s public image than anything else.

Anna Kendrick & Other Celebs Who Are Doing Just Fine Without Biological Children https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/slideshow/2148425/celebrities-who-dont-want-kids/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/slideshow/2148425/celebrities-who-dont-want-kids/#respond Thu, 17 Oct 2024 20:17:46 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?post_type=pmc-gallery&p=2148425 After the recently resurfaced comments from JD Vance — Donald Trump’s running mate for the 2024 presidential election — we feel the need to once again remind the public and all the Harrison Butkers out there that it is [more. than.] OK for women to not have biological children.

In a 2021 appearance on Tucker Carlson’s former Fox show, Vance said the country has been turned over “to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it” like Kamala Harris who doesn’t have biological children. (But is “Mamala” to two stepkids, as though that doesn’t count!)

He said the United States is being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”

Those comments are loaded with all kinds of ignorance, and it’s important to remember that there are plenty of reasons not to have kids —all of which are [more. than.] valid. And a person’s worth should never be defined by whether they are a biological parent. So when women like Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Winfrey get loud and proud about why they don’t want kids, we can’t help but cheer that they’re helping the stigma around being childless fade away.

Far too often, women are interrogated and shamed about their family planning choices — no matter what those choices may be. These quotes from happily childless celebs confirm that it’s possible to have it all with or without having kids. And apparently, that’s a message our society still desperately needs to hear.

Of course, there’s the flip side: Many celebs are excited to talk about their growing families and feel passionately about their identities as mothers. But for women who have never planned to have kids, questions from family, friends, overly nosy coworkers, and the press can be deflating. So, for women everywhere who are sick of the idea that having kids is the only way to live a complete life, check out these inspirational quotes from famous women who feel the same way.

Kamala Harris' Stepdaughter Ella Emhoff’s Fall Fashion Era Is All About This One Polarizing Clothing Item https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1234720618/ella-emhoff-big-pants-fall-fashion/ https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1234720618/ella-emhoff-big-pants-fall-fashion/#respond Sat, 12 Oct 2024 20:30:39 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234720618 Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, is officially in her fall fashion era, and it’s all thanks to this one piece of clothing.

On Oct 12, Emhoff shared a series of unique, stylish mirror selfies to her Instagram. She shared the selfies with the caption reading, “big pants summer turning into big pants fall ( also yes that is a big thing of yarn ).”

So it seems Emhoff’s fall wardrobe isn’t complete without big pants, and she’s showing off a bit of her collection. We start with photos of her rocking big green khaki pants, brown slacks that she paired with an argyle top, and some studded black pants.

Next, we see her in a truly NY fall look consisting of black pants, a white teem beige jacket, and a grey sweater over her shoulders. We also see her rock some eclectic looks consisting of more big green pants, oversized black jeans, and large white shorts.

Truly, the era of skinny jeans is over and dead, and Emhoff is showing that the era of big pants is here.

In a previous interview with Elle in 2021, she explained her outlook on fashion, adding that sustainability is her top priority, especially when it comes to fashion.

“I get really excited when I’m able to do things and work with brands that actually let me not only be the model but actually share my own thoughts and have [conversations] where I can talk about sustainability and activism in general,” she said.  “That’s what gets me so excited about the whole industry. I see my peers, especially people coming from New York who aren’t ‘models,’ but they’ll use their own image to amplify their work and their ideals.”

Yes, Your Teen Does Need to Register to Vote Today — Here's How to Help https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/2349972/teens-register-to-vote/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/2349972/teens-register-to-vote/#respond Wed, 09 Oct 2024 13:22:45 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=2349972 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, SheKnows may receive an affiliate commission.

If you’ve been voting for a while, you might be seeing a lot of messaging this time of year around making sure your voter registration is up-to-date. But if you’ve got an 18-year-old in your life, you have some more homework on your hands this election season. In the event that your kid isn’t already one of those politically-active Gen Z types, this task could be difficult. We’d like to give you a little help with that.

If your teenager is reluctant or apathetic about the upcoming election, you’re not alone. Young voter turnout is notoriously low if improving. Tufts estimated that 50 percent of young people ages 18-29 voted in the 2020 presidential election, which is a significant jump from just 39 percent in the 2016 presidential election.

“In interviews with dozens of young people, we found that many of them lacked confidence in themselves and their ability to navigate the voting process for the first time,” John Holbein, assistant professor of public policy and education at the University of Virginia, wrote in the Conversation ahead of the 2020 presidential election. “Many told us that in their busy, hectic, and ever-changing schedules, voting often simply falls by the wayside.

“Simply put, many young people want to participate, care about what happens in the political arena, and plan to participate,” Holbein continued, “but they find doing so too big of a hassle to actually follow through on their good intentions.”

Holbein suggests that the easiest way to fix this problem is to make voter registration easier, which is happening in some states that have same-day voter registration. At the moment, however, we’ve got to get to help these kids register ASAP — before those laws can change.

Find an issue that motivates them

The youth-led gun-sense group Students Demand Action (an offshoot of Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action) has been holding voter registration drives and has resources for teens who want to hold their own drive.

Students Demand Action volunteer Alanna Miller, a then second-year student at Duke University, gave us a few tips on how she gets other young people to register ahead of the 2020 presidential election:

“When registering other young voters, I remind them that our generation has grown up in the midst of our country’s gun-violence crisis,” she told SheKnows via email. “And of course, now, the recent police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and the shooting of Jacob Blake and so many others have added even more urgency to conversations around police violence as part of gun violence, and their disproportionate impact on Black people in America. Young people are eager to elect leaders who will do something about gun violence and police violence.”

The key to her approach is explaining that the youth vote can really make a difference if they turn out.

“Young voters who are motivated to end gun violence in America should know that there is room for change … ” she said. “Gun violence prevention consistently ranks as a top issue for young voters, so we know if young voters get registered, and turn out to vote, we can be a huge force … “

Find out what issues are really important to your teen, and then do the research together on what elected officials have said about it. They may have taken in rhetoric about politicians not caring and everyone being “the same,” but it’s up to you to talk about how that’s not the case. Look at local politics and laws that have been passed that directly impact your lives and discuss how your city, state, and U.S. representatives have acted — or haven’t — in your interest. Then look at a ballot and see how the people running this year might change that or might be inclined to listen once they’re in office.

Physically help them register

As Holbein wrote, many people feel like registering to vote is a huge headache, and it really doesn’t have to be. Head over to RocktheVote.org or Vote.org for multiple ways to register. Help them gather the information they’ll need for your state like their social security number, driver’s license, or ID number. You may be able to do everything online, but if something needs to be printed and mailed, you should have that prepared too. Anything you can do to smooth the way for them is great, and this is one time when no one will mind you helping a teen with their homework — just so long as they choose their own party affiliation (if any) and sign their names themselves.

Get Them Some Voting Swag

Some sweet voting merch from places like Etsy and UncommonGoods could be exactly what your teen needs to get in the patriotic spirit, register to vote, and then actually show up to the polls.

Do it on time

Voter registration deadlines vary by state and by each registration method. For instance, some states have different deadlines for voters who are registering in person versus online or by mail. Some states offer day-of registration, but make sure you have all your papers in order if your young voter plans to register at the polls on Nov. 5.

Prepare the next round of voters

Parenting expert and psychologist Reena B. Patel has a few tips for how to raise voters from a very young age. First, you need to be a role model by voting yourself and talking about who you’re voting for and why. Then talk about politics on a large and small scale.

“Talk with your child about how you handle disagreements in your home,” she said. “Politics can get heated, and it is important to let your child know that at the end of the day we come together for a bigger cause.”

And if the adults in our government can’t also figure out that particular lesson, we can vote them out!

Kamala Harris Book Is on Sale for $11 During Amazon Big Deals Day 2024

'The Truths We Hold: An American Journey' by Kamala Harris

Harris’ book The Truths We Hold: An American Journey is a powerful, in-depth look at the Presidential hopeful. It starts with her life as the daughter of immigrants and civil rights activists, going into how her community and upbringing inspired her to focus on social injustice.

It then goes through her entire life so far, from childhood to her rise as a political superstar. In the description, it even shows how she “learned to bring a voice to the voiceless” as the current US Vice President and former attorney general of California.

Along with praise from the Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle, so many Amazon shoppers adore this autobiography.

“Inspiring Testament to Her Strong Work Ethic, Values, and Effectiveness,” one shopper said. “Listening to Kamala Harris speak the words in the audio version was truly impactful, so much so that I bought the print version to study in more detail. Reading about her experiences and hearing her message made me find her authentic, strong, energetic, and very sharp. Her grit and tenacity are remarkable and inspiring, from her relentless fight for social mobility to taking on major criminals who prey on marginalized populations and her ability to go beyond pointing fingers to find impactful solutions to significant issues instead. The book was both educational and inspiring.”

Another shopper added, “I read (I should say listened, since she reads the audio version) this book a few years ago and now plan to do so again now that she’s running for President. An incredible inspiring book for any American who treasures freedom and love for their fellow human beings. A wonderful book. I wholeheartedly recommend it.”

Janet Jackson Reportedly Made This Major Business Move After Her Comments About Kamala Harris' Race https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/3101986/janet-jackson-kamala-harris-comments-fired/ https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/3101986/janet-jackson-kamala-harris-comments-fired/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 14:48:21 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=3101986 A few days ago, on Sept. 21, Janet Jackson made some alarming comments about Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. In a sit-down interview with The Guardian, Jackson said that Harris’ father, Jamaican-American economist Donald Harris, was “white.”

“That’s what I heard,” Jackson told the outlet. “That she’s Indian. Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”

Following the article, and the backlash that ensued, Jackson’s presumed manager Mo Elmasri gave a statement to outlets to set the record straight.

“Janet Jackson would like to clarify her recent comments. She recognizes that her statements regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity were based on misinformation,” Elmasri’s statement read, per Variety. “Janet respects Harris’ dual heritage as both Black and Indian and apologizes for any confusion caused.”

“She values the diversity Harris represents and understands the importance of celebrating that in today’s society,” the statement continued. “Janet remains committed to promoting unity and understanding.”

“I no longer work for her,” her former manager told the outlet. “I was fired by Janet and Randy [Jackson], after attempts to improve her image in front of public opinion and her fans, and this is something I do not deserve.”

“Janet Jackson fired me due to disagreements between me, her, and Randy, after her meeting with The Guardian and her unbalanced statements,” Elmasri echoed to the Daily Beast.

“That’s all I can say,” the executive said, adding, “All support to Kamala Harris.”

Looks like Jackson has either no intention of apologizing for her remarks or wants to make the statement herself, not through Elmasri or anyone else. Knowing how damaging a comment like this may go, especially with the ripple effects of fake news, we hope Jackson sets the record straight soon.

Kamala Harris’ Stepdaughter Ella Emhoff Is Using Her Unique Talent to Spread This Message https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/3099452/kamala-harris-stepdaughter-voting-message/ https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/3099452/kamala-harris-stepdaughter-voting-message/#respond Tue, 17 Sep 2024 19:51:18 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=3099452 US Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, may have had to put a pause on some of her dreams, like her knitting club, but she’s still using her knitting talents to spread a very important message.

On Sept 17, Emhoff shared a time-lapse video of her knitting. She shared the video to her Instagram with the caption reading, “it’s national voter registration day. ⭐️ check your status ⭐️ register if you haven’t ⭐️ make sure your friends and family are registered ⭐️ make sure you have a voting plan.”

She added, “there is so much at risk for so many people/ your vote matters/ #harriswalz2024.”

In the time-lapse video, which has the song “Freedom” by Beyoncé (feat. Kendrick Lamar) playing in the background, we see Emhoff knitted the iconic design from the “I Voted” stickers as her new project. She did this to utilize her talents, and spread the message of voting in this election; and many are praising her for it.

In case you missed it, earlier this year, Emhoff announced in an Aug 29 video that she’d be pausing her knitting club until further notice, amid this very hectic time during the 2024 Presidential race. She did this to protect the members’ privacy and safety; however, her club may come back soon. It’s clear her love for this craft is still going strong, and we really love to see it.

And in a previous interview with Office Magazine, she talked about her goal with the club, proudly saying: “I want to teach as many people to knit as possible.”
